MARGARET STAGG | BID, NCIDQ, ARIDO

Margaret is an accomplished registered Interior Designer with a career history of delivering award winning client focused design concepts. She is a registered member of ARIDO (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario), and has her NCIDQ certification.

With 15 years of experience working in high profile firms, she has polished her skills in space planning, design development, and finish and furniture selections. She is passionate about bringing simplicity to the design process through project management and creating functional interiors with authenticity and innovation.

Stagg & Paper Interiors was born when, Margaret, discovered her appreciation and love for what our homes mean to us and how significant our feelings around them are. Her business takes an intentional approach to design that places value on balancing function with aesthetics.

Through-out Margaret’s career she has had the opportunity to work with amazing firms on some outstanding award winning projects.

Stagg & Paper Interiors is founded on the core belief that a well designed home can help to improve our well-being on a daily basis.

BACK TO THE BEGINNING

In March 2020, I (Margaret Stagg) had to take time off of my full-time interior design career to focus on my young children in order to cope with daycare and school closures. After spending the Spring and Summer navigating COVID and our new normal, I knew I needed to figure out a way to include my creative design side and career into my family life.

I started creating paper house portraits of local homes in Hamilton Ontario, as a creative outlet. Hamilton is full of beautiful century homes and this combined my technical interior design skills and creative passion for making things.

Having always focused my career in hospitality, commercial and multi-residential design, it’s here in my story when I started to resonant with how significant our feelings are around our homes and I wanted to dive further into those feelings and ideas. 

Home is where we start, where we create lasting memories and where we grow.

THE PAPER CONNECTION

The use of paper has always been an important part of my design process. Behind the scenes, before the beautiful presentation drawings, my starting point in planning a space is always on paper. As a creative process, it is so good to step away from the computer screen to get ideas down on paper first before diving into the digital drawings. 

When thinking about Stagg & Paper as a brand, I knew I wanted to build on this process, and the paper first approach.
