Spring 2024 | One Room Challenge | Century Home Dining Room Refresh | Week 2
Welcome to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge and thank you for joining me on this journey! My name is Margaret Stagg and I am the Owner and Principal Designer here at Stagg & Paper Interiors.
I really wanted the design of the dining room to balance the feel of the antique furniture and the more modern take with the contrasting finishes. The trim and wall below the chair rail will be painted a warm dark almost black and the upper walls and ceiling will be painted a creamy white. In the dining room niche, I am going to create an archway by continuing the dark accent paint up the walls and on the dropped ceiling area. This will frame the back wall nicely for the accent wallcovering. I love that the wallcovering brings in some pattern, nature and a little bit of colour. The soft blue and ochre colours look really great together and with the wood accents. Top all of this off with the existing furniture pieces, an area rug to ground the dining table and a modern chandelier and it’s going to look amazing!

Painting has started this weekend and I am hoping to get that done along with the wallpapering over the next few days. I started with the dark accent paint and I am loving it so far! I am also going to attempt to restore my hardwood floor and bring back some of the shine to it before moving my furniture back in. I will be back next week with a Progress Update!!

Thank you! Margaret
